KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 29, 2024: Kora Johnson School in Karimnagar town celebrated the celebrated the National Sports Day and Telugu Language Day separately to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey legend Mayor Dhyan Chand and Gidigu Venkata Ramamurthy, who popularized the Telugu idiom and promoted colloquial language, respectively on Thursday.
The day highlights the importance of sports and physical activities for overall health. The theme for National Sports Day 2024 is ‘’Sports for the promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies”
School chairman Mahipal Reddy hoisted the sports flag along with directors Varaprasad, Ram Reddy, Simhachalam Harikrishna, Vangala Santosh Reddy and others. They also lit the sports torch and administered pledge to the students before the start of various sports and games competitions and released balloons into the air.
They paid floral tributes to Major Dhyan Chand by recalling his contribution to the country and Indian Sports in particular. They also enlightened the gathering that the day embraces sportsmanship and brotherhood that comes with sports. They also paid floral tributes to Gidigu Venkata Ramamurthy and felicitated the Telugu teachers and PETs on the occasion.
