NABARD supports weavers with AI powered KOSHA IoT devices to produce value added fabric

BUBHANESHWAR, SEPTEMBER 12, 2024: NABARD has supported the formation of an Off- Farm Producer Organisation (OFPO) called Dhalapathara parada  Producer Company Limited in Dhalapathara village of Bolgarh block in Khordha district of Odisha.

The members of the company produce exquisite products like stoles, sarees, curtains etc. These products are G.I certified. To further strengthen the product’s authenticity and traceability and protect the weaver’s interests, NABARD has tied up with a Bangalore based organisation KOSHA. NABARD provided few weavers of the OFPO with AI powered IoT KOSHA devices which will help them to embed cluster/ artisan specific information in the handloom products.

Customers can access authentic information about origin, materials, and production processes through this technology. On September 12, 2024, the devices were installed on a few looms at the common facility centre set up with NABARD assistance in the presence of weavers, NABARD officials, representative from KOSHA, board members of the weavers company etc. The weavers were also given hands on training to use the technology. This will help product differentiation in the market.
