

HYDERABAD, MARCH 26, 2025: Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, proudly hosted a significant program titled “Managing Sexual Behaviour of School Children – Role of Biology Teachers and Counselors.” The session was organized by Hyderabad Sahodaya Schools in collaboration with the Institute of Counselor Training, Research, and Consultancy (ICTRC) recently at the school premises. The event witnessed the participation of 120 biology teachers and counselors from across Telangana. The four-and-a-half-hour session provided valuable insights into a crucial aspect of child development.

The program commenced with a prayer and the traditional lighting of the lamp. Following a brief introduction of the event and dignitaries, Mr. Ebenezer, Chairperson of Sahodaya Schools, delivered the opening remarks. Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari , Principal of the school welcomed the gathering. She also provided an overview of the session’s objectives and emphasized its relevance before handing over the proceedings to Mr. Aditya Nair. Mr. Nair, a distinguished expert from ICTRC, conducted an engaging and interactive session on the subject. He provided a deep understanding of the Sexual Behaviour Continuum, discussing its connection with cultural and family norms, development, and psychological perspectives. He also addressed non-normative sexual behavior, gender dysphoria, paraphilic disorders, and LGBTQIA+ topics with clarity and openness. His rational approach and engaging style captivated the participants.
Adding to the session’s depth, Prof. Keshav Singh, the Global Coordinator of ICTRC Projects, conducted a virtual session on the importance of sexuality education nationwide. He emphasized macro- and micro-level approaches in addressing these topics and introduced his 5 ‘W’s and 1 ‘H’ model, which received great appreciation. His 45-minute session was informative, thought-provoking, and highly engaging.
In addition, Mr. Shalish presented career opportunities at Texila Medical University, Guyana, South America. He provided insights into admissions, academic advantages, and placement opportunities for aspiring students.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari, Principal of Sister Nivedita School, expressing gratitude to the esteemed speakers and participants for their valuable contributions. Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polsani, Chairman of the school and Rtn. M. Harihara Prasad, Correspondent of the school, expressed their happiness for conducting such enriching session to empower the teachers.
