KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 16, 2025: The Karimnagar district sizzled on Wednesday with the temperature reaching a record 43.2 degree Celsius, which was recorded as the hottest day of the season in the month of April this year.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the people of the district due to the high temperatures. The high temperature may cause discomfort or even health issues for some people. The Karimnagar town is currently facing a heatwave, where the temperature is significantly higher than the average maximum temperature for the season.
The IMD has advised people to stay indoors during the peak hours of the day and take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke or heat exhaustion. Due to the heatwave, the streets in Karimnagar are deserted, with people seeking refuge from the intense heat.
The IMD also issued a thunderstorm alert to 11 districts in Telangana on Thursday (April 17, 2025). According to the IMD’s daily weather bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, and Nagarkurnool districts.
In Hyderabad, residents can expect partly cloudy skies over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are likely during the afternoon or evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are expected to hover around 38°C and 23°C, respectively, IMD said.
