Karimnagar Dairy is not a chemical factory to cause pollution, clarifies MD

Refutes allegations levelled by BRS corporator and residents of the town

KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11, 2024: The management of Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited aka Karimnagar Dairy has refuted the allegations made by Karimnagar Municipal Corporator and other residents of Padmanagar locality in Karimnagar town that the Karimnagar Dairy was emanating pollution and causing health problems to the residents.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Karimnagar Dairy Managing Director P Shankar Reddy stated that Karimnagar Dairy is not a chemical factory and will not use any chemicals and added that they use only water for the processing of the milk. Finding fault with the BRS corporator Bonala Srikanth and others for staging dharna in front of the Karimnagar Dairy and making false allegations, he said that the Vijaya Dairy at Lalapet in Hyderabad, Mother Dairy in Hayathnagar, Nandini Dairy in Bengaluru town, Mother Dairy in New Delhi and other dairies are located in the heart of the towns and providing necessary milk and milk products to the people of the respective localities and there were no complaints from residents about the dairies causing pollution.

Ridiculing the allegations that the Karimnagar Dairy was causing pollution and contamination of groundwater, the MD clarified that the water used during the processing of milk was being treated at an Effluent treatment plant (ETP) and being reused for cleaning purposes, watering plants in the garden and also for the cultivation of fodder for the cattle. He stated that the dairy water would not cause any pollution of the groundwater table.

On the allegations that the Karimnagar Dairy chimney was emanating huge smoke and ash falling in the vicinity of the dairy, the MD stated that they had installed a huge chimney as per the Pollution Control Board to release the smoke up in the air and there was no question of ash flying away and falling in the residential areas. He said that the ash would be accumulated within the premises of the boiler and there was no chance of its flying away and scattered in other localities.

Charging that some leaders for their political mileage had staged a dharna in front of the Dairy, the dairy MD clarified that the Dairy industry would not cause any health ailments such as skin allergy, asthma and others as alleged by the agitationists. More than one lakh farmers rely on the Karimnagar dairy for their regular source of income and to provide quality milk and milk products to the people of the Telangana state, he said that the Karimnagar Dairy is the number one dairy in the entire Telangana state for quality and purity. He also stated that the Karimnagar Dairy was procuring daily 2 lakh litres of milk from the farmers and after processing was selling milk and milk products in Karimnagar, Hyderabad, Warangal, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and other districts.
