HYDERABAD, APRIL 22, 2025: As part of World Earth Day 2025 celebrations, the Institute for Environment Conservation and Advocacy (IECA), in collaboration with Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, hosted a spirited and colorful event centered around this year’s global theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.”

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and environmental enthusiasts. The theme underscored the urgent need to shift toward renewable energy and to advocate for the tripling of global clean energy generation by 2030, encouraging collective and community-based climate action.
Inspiring Young Eco-Champions Through Art and Performance
The event opened with a painting competition, where students from various grades expressed their visions of a sustainable future through vibrant colours and imaginative landscapes. From solar panels on rooftops to wind turbines spinning in green fields, the artworks powerfully conveyed the essence of renewable energy and environmental protection.
This was followed by skits and theatrical performances, where students creatively depicted real-world environmental challenges — such as pollution, deforestation, and over-reliance on fossil fuels — alongside inspiring stories of change-makers leading the green revolution. The skits highlighted the role of individuals, communities, and governments in switching to clean energy sources and protecting ecosystems.
A Cultural Tribute to the Planet
Adding to the energy of the day, students performed cultural dances and songs themed on nature and sustainability, celebrating Earth as a living entity to be loved, respected, and protected. The performances served as a reminder of the deep connection between Indian culture and ecological consciousness.
“Today’s children are tomorrow’s environmental leaders. Events like these not only build awareness but also spark passion for real, lasting change,” said Sai Viswas, Director of Education of IECA. “The Earth Day event at Sister Nivedita School stands as a testament to the power of students in the climate movement, perfectly reflecting the 2025 Earth Day motto: “Our Power, Our Planet.” It is a celebration not only of our planet but of the collective energy that can drive meaningful change when harnessed with purpose and unity”, said Dr T Lalitha Kumari Principal Nivedita School. Speaking on the occasion, Dharmender District Science Officer, Hyderabad praised the enthusiasm and creativity of the young participants.
The programme ended with a collective pledge by students and staff to adopt eco-friendly habits — conserving energy, reducing waste, planting trees, and promoting renewable energy at home and in the community.
