RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 20, 2025: International Agriculture Cooperation, IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH, Germany led by its Chief Sven Gelhaar met Telangana Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation Tummala Nageshwer Rao and briefed their plans to support the Cooperative Electric Supply Society (CESS) in Telangana, in transitioning to renewable energy, particularly solar power.

The project’s goal is to decentralize the energy supply through the establishment and promotion of Renewable Energy Cooperatives (RECs), enabling citizens to participate directly in energy production. This approach aims to increase energy security, stabilize prices, and reduce CO₂ emissions.
By converting 253,501 existing consumers into solar energy producers, the project aims to achieve an 80% self-sufficiency rate for CESS. The expected reduction in CO₂ emissions exceeds 705,000 tons per year. Last year, Dr.Ramesh Chennamaneni, Former Legislator along with CESS Chairman Rama Rao met the Minister and appraised the project.
The funding for this project is expected to come from private and public Indian sources, CESS, the German Development Bank (KfW) and other private investors.
Additionally, IAK is supporting an Indian-led German start-up aiming to introduce an innovative, fully recyclable, lightweight, PAF-free, and cost-effective solar panel to the global market. This patented product will unlock new applications for solar panels across various sectors, including industry, transport, and agriculture. The medium-term objective is to commence production of about 50 MW of these advanced solar panels in Telangana starting in 2027. The initial investment required amounts to approximately USD 4 to 5 million.
Minister Tummala Nageshwer Rao has welcomed the German initiative and assured the necessary support to realize the objective of transforming CESS into a Solar Hub. The Minister has ordered an immediate DPR for the Project.
