Karimnagar records sizzling 46.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 04, 2024: Stated to be first time in the history of the integrated Karimnagar district, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a record temperature of 46.8 degrees Celsius in various parts of Karimnagar town during the first week of May month on Saturday.
The IMD issued ‘red alert’ to the district with the sizzling summer giving many parts of the district a fiery days. Since early morning, the temperature is soaring and giving roasting experience to the people. From 6.30 am onwards, the people of the district have been experience blistering heat wave conditions following by humidity.
The IMD issues ‘red alert’ when the temperature crosses 45 Degrees Celsius and ‘orange alert’ when the temperature is between 40 to 45 degrees Celsius and ‘yellow alert’ when the temperature is between 35 to 40 degrees Celsius. Incidentally, on Saturday, the temperature had crossed 45 degrees Celsius in more than 20 districts in the Telangana state.
The districts which crossed 45 degrees Celsius and declared as ‘red alert’ including Karimnagar, Jagtial, Nalgonda, Narayanpet, Nizamabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Kamareddy, Jogulambad-Gadwal, Mahbubnagar, Suryapet, Nirmal, Wanaparthy, Vikarabad, Kumuram Bheem, Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli, Nagarkurnool, Sangareddy, Adilabad, Jangaon, Siddipet, Mahabubabad, Medak, Malkajgiri, Warangal and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.
People were forced to remain indoors following the blistering heat waves in the district. The coal production was badly affected in the Godavarikhani coal belt area in Peddapalli district following the heatwaves. Though, the officials were making several arrangements to increase coal production, but the coal miners were struggling to produce coal in this extreme heat wave conditions.
On the other hand, the political parties are struggling hard to campaign during this sweltering heat wave conditions. The contestants were campaigning only during the mornings and evenings. The party rank and file door to door meetings were also restricted due to soaring temperature.
