

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 03, 2025: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar Chapter in association with the Karimnagar Obstetrics and Gynecology Society (KOGS), Women’s Doctors Wing (WDW) and Karimnagar Radiologists and Imaging Association (KRIA) has announced to an awareness and screening camp dedicated to cervical and breast cancer for the Municipal sanitation workers of Karimnagar town on Tuesday (February 4) on the occasion of World Cancer day.


In a press note here on Monday, IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Anamalla Naresh, Secretary Siripuram Naveen Kumar and Treasurer Ch Vijay Kumar said that the free cancer screening camp would be conducted at Kala Bharathi on the premises of MCK in Karimnagar town. MCK commissioner Chahat Bajpai and DMHO Dr G Venkata Ramana would be the guest for the camp.
Stating that the cancer is a curable disease if detected at an early stage, IMA district president Dr Naresh said that the camp is being organised so the disease can be timely detected. “We will take all possible steps to improve the health conditions of the staff,” he added. The sanitation workers above the age of 40 years will have an opportunity to undergo free screening for cancer including a BP checkup, chest X-ray, hemogram, examination by a surgeon and for women, clinical breast examination and pap smear (used for cervical screening). He said that the camp would educate on the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer.
