KARIMNAGAR, MAY 17, 2025: A health awareness camp to educate the people about the silent killer, hypertension, was organised on the occasion of the World Hypertension Day at Dr Daram Raghu Raman Hospital in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
In consonance with the theme of the day, as many as 116 persons underwent checkups for diabetes and high BP. On this occasion, they had identified 12 high BP patients and 10 new diabetes patients.

On this occasion, senior physician Dr Raghu Raman said that the hypertension was a precarious condition where the heart pumped more than normal blood. Hypertension is a major reason for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and brain strokes. High-pressure flow of blood causes strain in blood vessels. Over time, this weakens vessels and may also narrow them, which may result in blood clotting. If one is susceptible to hypertension, then it is important to consult a doctor immediately,” he added.
He also warned that “Hypertension damages the functioning of the brain, heart, kidneys and also leads to death. The disease of hypertension is also known as ‘the silent killer’ as there are no symptoms to identify it in the initial stages.”
