RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026: The NSS Unit at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College, Shatrajupalli, Vemulawada, organised a Health Awareness Programme on World Suicide Prevention Day on Wednesday.
On this occasion, Psychiatrist Dr Praveen, Medical Officer of Hanumajipet Primary Health Centre Dr V. Divyasri, ANM G. Lalitha, and ASHA Worker C.H. Kavitha interacted with students and raised awareness about mental health, stress, anxiety, identifying emotional difficulties, and ways to cope with mental health challenges. They emphasised the importance of speaking openly with family members, friends, teachers, and healthcare professionals whenever support is needed.
The resource persons conveyed the important message that “Suicide is not a solution to any problem; there is always an alternative way forward.” Students were encouraged to overcome the stigma and misconceptions surrounding mental health and to share their concerns with trusted people rather than keeping them to themselves. They highlighted that even a small conversation can provide hope and may help save a life.

As part of the programme, students displayed awareness posters on mental health and suicide prevention, showcasing their creativity and spreading positive messages among their peers. Prizes were presented to the students who demonstrated outstanding performance in the poster activity.
The programme was attended by Principal P. S. R. Sharma, Vice Principal K. Lavanya, NSS Programme Officer V. Swapna, NSS Council members S. Sandhya Rani, R. Deepthi and G. Swapna, Health Supervisor P. Sumalatha, faculty members, and students.
