Grand celebration of the first world Meditation day at Gachibowli

HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 21, 2024: The first-ever World Meditation Day was celebrated with grandeur at Gachibowli Stadium under the aegis of the Department of Tourism & Culture and Ram Chandra Mission, in collaboration with Heartfulness on Saturday.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, and Daaji inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Daaji (Ram Chandra Mission President Kamlesh D. Patel (Daaji), also led a meditation session for all attendees.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma expressed pride in hosting the first World Meditation Day in Telangana. He described meditation as a profound bridge between divinity and humanity. He lauded Kanha Heartfulness Center for spreading positivity and joy worldwide through meditation. Highlighting the growing challenges in today’s world, he stressed the importance of meditation for mental resilience, peace, and happiness, adding that it fosters wisdom and personal transformation, which will positively impact Indian society.

Daaji Guide of Heartfulness & President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission said, “Like any other profession, practising meditation often makes it perfect.  Scientific research is happening at the genetic level and molecular levels and promising results of meditation. A true Hindu is ignited with the flame of love for God and a sincere approach towards Divinity. I am very happy and proud that the Govt. of Telangana and the Telangana Ministry of Culture and Tourism host this and we are honoured to join hands to celebrate this World Meditation Day together. May the Dhyana be carried out in every household. Religion binds us to dogmas. Spirituality says you should experience what you believe in. Knowledge without experience is like building castles in the sand. Experiencing Godly presence once is not enough. We must move from experiencing to becoming.”

Minister Jupally Krishna Rao encouraged the people of Telangana to embrace meditation as an opportunity for holistic well-being. He envisioned every household flourishing with health and peace through meditation. Addressing societal challenges such as stress, violence, and deteriorating relationships, he questioned how peace could be achieved when individuals lack internal calm and face constant mental struggles.

Expressing concern over the menace of drugs, he highlighted how substances like marijuana are destroying the future of students and youth. He urged everyone to dedicate at least 30 minutes to an hour daily to safeguard their mental and physical health. He also emphasized the need to revive and rejuvenate India’s fading cultural values.

The event was attended by Government Advisor Keshav Rao, MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, Tourism Director Jandage Hanumantu Kondiba, and Language & Culture Director Mamidi Harikrishna, among others.
