
RAMAGUNDAM, MAY 05, 2026: NTPC Ramagundam marked the beginning of the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM)–2026 with a vibrant and well-structured Opening Ceremony held at the Kakatiya Function Hall. The programme was thoughtfully designed to celebrate the spirit of empowerment, learning, and opportunity for young girls from nearby communities.
The ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour, who were warmly welcomed with bouquets and planters. This was followed by the traditional lamp lighting and NTPC Geet, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the event.
A highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the GEM-2025 movie, which showcased the initiative’s journey and impact. The event then progressed with the Opening Address by HoHR, emphasising NTPC’s commitment to nurturing and empowering young minds through education and holistic development.
Adding cultural vibrancy to the occasion, students from Bal Bhavan presented a graceful welcome dance, followed by an energetic performance by GEM students from the 2019 batch. The achievements of the 2019 batch were also recognised through a felicitation ceremony, celebrating their growth and success.

An inspiring speech by Ms Abhigna, a GEM student from the 2019 batch, reflected on her journey and the programme’s transformative role. Gifts were then distributed to Bal Bhavan students, reinforcing encouragement and support for their participation.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering, appreciating NTPC’s sustained efforts in empowering young girls and highlighting the importance of such initiatives in nation-building.
The programme concluded with kit distribution to the new batch of participants, followed by group photographs capturing the memorable moments of the day. A formal Vote of Thanks brought the ceremony to a close.
The GEM–2026 Opening Ceremony at NTPC Ramagundam successfully set the stage for another impactful edition of the programme, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment to creating a brighter and more inclusive future for young girls.
