
HYDERABAD, MARCH 21, 2025: The Department of Languages at Government Degree College, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, celebrated World Poetry Day with great enthusiasm on Friday.
Principal M Himabindu presided over the function, which was attended by faculty members, including Vice Principal G Bhanuprakash, Sangeeta, Saleem, Shyamala, Mangal Das, Narsimha and others.
In her address, Himabindu emphasized the importance of poetry in fostering creativity, empathy, and respect. She encouraged students to develop a habit of extensive reading and writing poems, highlighting its potential to hone their creativity.
This year’s World Poetry Day theme, “Poetry as a Bridge for Peace and Inclusion,” was the focus of the celebration. The event aimed to promote linguistic diversity, conserve endangered languages, and provide a platform for poets to express themselves.
As part of the celebrations, the principal announced plans to establish a “Poet’s Corner” “Ley Moggalu” in the college, where students can display their poems. The best poem will be awarded a prize, encouraging students to showcase their creative talent. The event was a resounding success, with students and faculty members coming together to celebrate the power of poetry.
