RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 17, 2024: Students of Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet, Rajanna-Sircilla district, celebrated the International Ozone Day under the theme of ‘Advancing Climate Change’ under the guidance of Principal V Vijaya Lakshmi on Tuesday.
The event was conducted as per the guidelines issued by the Department of Higher Education and the Telangana State Pollution Control Board under the theme “Montreal Protocol: Fixing the Ozone Layer and Reducing Climate Change’.
Speaking on the occasion, the principal highlighted the history, causes, effects and remedial measures for ozone layer depletion. She informed the students about the measures which the citizens should take to remediate the ozone layer depletion. Without the ozone layer, there would be no life on Earth. The ozone layer is the indirect cause of life. Without this ozone layer, the earth would be burning like a ball of fire, she stated.
Chemistry faculty member V Vani empowered the students on the importance of protection of the ozone layer by taking up mass plantations of saplings and their protection. The students Sagarika, Nithisha, Rekha, Akshitha, Bhargav Sharma and others have made powerpoint presentation on the importance of the protection of the ozone layer. The college management distributed prizes to the students who made PowerPoint presentations. Vice Principal Prabhakar, faculty members Dharmapuri, Anjaneyulu, Sravan Kumar, Adi Vishnu, KV Bikshmaiah, Srinivas Manohar, Sucharan, Krishna Prasad, Srinivas, Ramulu, Shailaja, Deepika, Bhargavi and others were also present.
