KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 06, 2024: Prof Syed Abdul Shukoor, former Head Department of Urdu, Osmania University and former Director of Telangana State Urdu Academy, is one of the probable candidates being considered for the post of Vice Chancellor of Satavahana University in Karimnagar town, according to reliable sources.
Going by the past experiences of appointing the Vice Chancellors of Satavahana University, the government had appointed the locals of Karimnagar district as VCs of the budding university. The first VC Md Iqbal Ali, K Veera Reddy and S Mallesham were the natives of the integrated Karimnagar district.
As promised by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to appoint a Muslim minority as the VC of a university in the Telangana state, the sources said that the government is roping in the candidature of Syed Abdul Shukoor for the post of Satavahana University VC because of good academic track record and teaching experience.
A native of Karimnagar town, Mr Shukoor is having three decades of vast teaching experience in Osmania University and he was also adjunct professor of Satavahana University Urdu department for some time in 2021. He also acted HoD of Urdu of Nizam College from 1994 to 2021. Besides, he is having administrative experience as he as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation, Special Officer of the Telangana State Haj committee, Executive Officer of Andhra Pradesh State Haj committee, and director of Telangana state minorities study circle and more.
He has to his credit of writing several books and editing several books including ranslations. Incidentally, he is also a staunch supporter of Congress party.
