KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30, 2024: Former Indian Medical Association Telangana State President and senior Rheumatologist Dr BN Rao has decided to contest the ensuing Legislative Council elections from the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency.
Dr Rao plans to secure support and candidature from the BRS following his contact with the party’s top brass. He has even prepared to contest the Council polls independently if the BRS does not allocate the party ticket.
Accordingly, Dr Rao has constituted Dr BN Rao Foundation and participates in social service programmes and medical awareness campaigns in the Karimnagar Graduates constituency covering integrated Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak districts. He had been visiting various libraries and Study centres spread across the four integrated districts and distributing study material for the students preparing for various competitive examinations. Recently, he had also visited Satavahana University and distributed the study material to the students.
As a Rheumatologist, Dr BN Rao has conducted several camps on rheumatoid arthritis and conducted awareness programmes in the integrated Karimnagar district. He also helped poor patients undergo knee replacement surgeries free of cost. He also crusaded against anaemia by conducting camps in various educational institutions and distributing medicines free of cost. He has been supporting poor patients by providing medical assistance free of cost and helping the poor and bright students. He also played a crucial role during the outbreak of Covid-19 by providing medical assistance to the people as well as to the frontline warriors by providing sanitisers, PPE kits, face masks, gloves etc.
He is banking on his close contacts with the entire medical fraternity in the Legislative Council constituency as former IMA state president and former IMA Karimnagar chapter president. Along with the medical fraternity, he also has contacts with several politicians and other intellectuals of the district. He had been assuring unemployed youth and medical fraternity of all assistance and raising their issues in Council after getting elected as MLC.
