PEDDAPALLI, AUGUST 14, 2026: Dursheti Ramaiah has been conferred with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award 2024 for his contribution to folk music in Telangana state.
A native of Garrepalli village of Sultanabad mandal, Dursheti Ramaiah has been presented with the Akademi award at a function at Vignan Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
Ramaiah received training in folk music from his father, Ramanujam Dursheti. He is a master practitioner and torch-bearer of the ‘Kaddi Tantri Vadyam’, a rare traditional folk instrument, and he has been recognized for his contributions to the vanishing folk art. He has also trained in Chendu Yakshagana, a folk theatre of Telangana.
