RAMAGUNDAM, AUGUST 14, 2026: The Ramagundam Commissionerate of Police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against a rice miller allegedly involved in the diversion of custom-milled rice (CMR), causing huge loss to the state exchequer.
In a statement here on Friday, Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishor Jha said that PD Act was issued against rice miller Gampa Santosh Kumar for diverting CMR rice and selling it in the black market to reap riches. Following the orders of CP, the Luxxettipet Inspector Ramana Murthy and Dandepalli SI Rajavardhan handed over the orders to the accused Gampa Santosh, who is lodged in Luxxetipet sub-jail and later shifted to Cherlapalli jail.
Gampa Santosh Kumar is the managing partner of Ms Ramlaxman Industries rice mill in Lingapur village of Dandepalli mandal. He had forged an agreement for CMR of 9,244.206 metric tonnes of paddy in the 2022-23 rabi season and the 2024-25 rabi season. Against the supply of 6,286.059 metric tonnes of rice to the government, he had supplied only 1,833.511 metric tonnes, and the remaining 4,452.548 metric tonnes of paddy was diverted.
He had caused loss to the tune of Rs 15,70,36,726. Cases have been registered against Santosh Kumar in 2025 and 2026 in Dandepalli and Hajipur police stations.
