HYDERABAD, JUNE 05, 2025: In a significant stride towards enriching educational practices, Dr. Padmavathy Tungathurthi, Director of Fusion International School, and Mrs. Nandita Sunkara, Principal of Delhi Public School, Mahendra Hills, jointly facilitated a two-day CBSE Capacity Building Program on Critical and Creative Thinking. The workshop was held at Sister Nivedita School on May 29th and 30th, 2025, to equip teachers with essential tools to nurture critical and creative thinking in students.
The programme began with an engaging icebreaker that encouraged participants to solve hypothetical problems using logic and lateral thinking, setting the tone for a thought-provoking experience.

The first session focused on critical thinking. Dr. Padmavathy and Mrs. Nandita emphasised skills such as identifying biases, analysing arguments, and making sound, reasoned decisions. “In today’s information-heavy world, the ability to think critically is not just a skill—it’s a necessity,” Dr. Padmavathy noted, reinforcing the session’s relevance.
The second session delved into creative thinking techniques, including brainstorming and mind mapping. Participants enthusiastically took part in hands-on activities like the “Alternative Uses Challenge,” which encouraged them to dismantle mental blocks and approach problems with fresh perspectives.
A major highlight of the workshop was an interactive group challenge where participants collaborated to develop innovative solutions to real-life issues, blending both critical and creative thinking. This was followed by a peer evaluation session, adding an extra layer of reflection and learning.
Teachers who attended the program expressed great enthusiasm and appreciation. “It was both fun and enlightening. I’ve learned how to question more effectively and also think more imaginatively,” remarked one participant.
The workshop concluded with a reflection session, where attendees shared key takeaways and expressed gratitude to the facilitators, the school principal, and the management for organising the event. Dr. Lalitha Kumari, Principal of Sister Nivedita School, affirmed her dedication to hosting more such skill-building initiatives in the future.
This capacity-building program marked a valuable investment in the professional development of educators, reaffirming the importance of fostering 21st-century thinking skills in today’s classroom.
