
Senior journalist Ch Sushil Rao gives tips to budding journalists
HYDERABAD, JANUARY 31, 2025: The Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), organised a talk on “Writing for Media” on Thursday at the EFLU’s Educational Multimedia Research Centre’s conference hall in Hyderabad.

Delivering the talk, Senior Journalist Ch Sushil Rao, who has been working as a journalist for more than 36 years, explained about various nuances of the art and craft of writing for media. He exhorted the aspiring journalists to never compromise on accuracy, truthfulness, unbiased approach, and ethical reporting, as they are non-negotiable hallmarks of professional journalism.
“As journalists, it is our bounden duty to verify the authenticity of news, and make efforts to present the news in a comprehensive and holistic manner giving due importance to truthful and courageous reporting,” he added.
Mr Sushil Rao also highlighted the need to cultivate the art of crisp presentation as the attention spans of the readers are drastically getting decreased in this age of digital journalism. Sharing journalistic experiences, he inspired the digital communication and journalism students to hone their skills in media technologies to stay updated in the ever evolving digital journalism domain.
Burra Katha performance: Sushil Rao, who won national acclaim for his efforts in promoting the native Telangana art form, Burra Katha, also surprised the participants with his extempore performance of Burra Katha.
Through his enthralling performance, he traced the link between the Burra Katha and other forms of communication in the yore.
Associate Professor of Communication Dr. K. Raja Ram coordinated the talk, while Head of the Communication department, Prof. Naga Mallika, faculty members Dr. Srinivas Reddy Lankala, and Dr. Suchitra Patnaik were present on the occasion. Students from different disciplines of the EFLU took part and interacted with the eminent journalist.
