HYDERABAD, AUGUST 15, 2026: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad, together with its regional campuses at Lucknow and Shillong, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with patriotic fervour and collective enthusiasm.
The celebrations commenced with the flag hoisting by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N. Nagaraju. The colourful gathering of students, faculty, administrative and supporting staff, and ITP participants reflected the spirit of unity and national pride.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the University’s commitment to deepening democratic values through education, inclusivity, and skill development. He highlighted that India’s Gross Enrolment Ratio has risen to 28 per cent, a significant milestone in expanding access. Prof. Nagaraju emphasised that EFLU will continue to strengthen its academic growth and infrastructure, ensuring alignment of institutional goals with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
Drawing on civilizational wisdom, the Vice-Chancellor invoked the metaphor of “clean waters of the nation” to illustrate how values enrich lives. He emphasised the significance of the University emblem and said that words illuminate the world, build systems, and nurture communities. Stressing that “cultivation of minds should be the ultimate aim,” he affirmed that EFLU embodies the transformative power of language to strengthen universal values and shape responsible citizens; he further appealed to the teachers and students to realise the University’s academic potential.
Adding to the spirit of the occasion, the students of the University’s Music Club rendered patriotic songs. Students and teachers further expressed festive fervour by exchanging greetings on Independence Day. The programme witnessed active participation from Ms. Sini Manchala, Registrar; Prof. Shyam Rao Rathod, Proctor, Prof. Sujatha Mukri, Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof. Srivani, Dean, CPD, Dr. Rajaram, OSD to VC. Their spirited involvement reflected the collective pride and patriotic zeal of the EFLU community.
