Disclosing this newsmen at Yashoda Medical Centre in Karimnagar town on Sunday, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist Dr Jagadesh Madireddy said a patient, Adepu Vijaya Lakshmi from Ganeshnagar in Karimnagar, complained of chest pain and suffocation and approached the local hospitals in Karimnagar town. The local doctor stated that the patient was having multiple blockages of the heart and required bypass surgery. But, the family members opposed the decision and shifted her to Yashoda Medical Centre in Karimnagar and consulted Cardiologist Dr Jagadesh, who, after examining the report,s informed the patient to visit Hyderabad Yashoda hospital in Somajiguda.
The cardiologist identified high calcium content in the arteries and difficult to proceed with the bypass surgery because of the age factor. The doctors dissolved the calcium content in the arteries by using a chemical procedure. Later, they used OCT in a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to visualize the coronary arteries and guide treatment. OCT provides high-resolution, cross-sectional images of the vessel wall and lumen, allowing for detailed assessment of plaque characteristics, stent apposition, and other important features.
The Doctor said that the patient was cleared of all three blockages with the implantation of stents without any bypass surgery. The patient stayed in the hospital for only two days, and she was discharged later by prescribed medication.
Dr Jagadesh said that Yashoda hospital in the Telangana state was the first hospital to be equipped with the state of the art of modern technology for the treatment of all ailments and to save the lives of people.
