Tamil Nadu Cooperative Bank officials visit KDCCB as part of a study tour

KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27, 2024: The Karimnagar District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) officials said that the bank’s reputation, good customer relations and no political interference in the banking affairs are the success mantra of KDCCB to emerge as the role model cooperative bank in the country.

Besides, good governance and use of information technology, diversification of business, and providing all kinds of financial assistance required for all family members of farmers under ‘Happy Family’ are helping the bank to progress in leaps and bounds, they stated.

The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Bank officials led by BIRD, Mangaluru, made a field visit to the Karimnagar DCCB to inspect the functioning of PACS at Choppadandi and Porandla villages and also the DCCB main office in Karimnagar town on Friday. When the TN cooperative officials what the success mantra of KDCCB and their vision, the DCCB general managers B Sridhar and Md Riazuddin said that they were the first cooperative bank in the country to take up computerization of PACS and bank to ensure transparency and accountability.

When the TN officials asked whether KDCCB bank had faced any problems in the recovery of housing and educational loans, the officials clarified that there was no such problem and they were constantly monitoring the repayment of the loans. Incidentally, the students were clearing off the educational loans by securing jobs in foreign countries, they stated. The DCCB officials said that they had lent more than Rs 200 crore only for educational loans to the children of farmers in rural areas by mortgaging the agricultural lands.

Earlier, PACS development centre resource person G Satyanarayana made a PowerPoint presentation on the achievements of the KDCCB from a loss-making bank in the year 2005 to making profits and emerging as a role model under the leadership of its chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao. He stated that the bank had taken up recruitment of staff only through IBPS to select qualified professionals from 2012 onwards. All the 130 PACS in the district were running in profits and 122 PACS have CSC centres to provide digital services at the farmers’ doorstep in the rural areas. He also explained the diversification of the PACS by taking up various other businesses such as petrol filling stations, super bazaars, RO water plants, rice mills, seed processing units etc.
