KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 20, 2024: The National Deworming day in various government schools across the district on Thursday. Collector Pamela Satpathy visited the Government High School, Sapthagiri colony, Karimnagar town, and administered the deworming tablets among the students.
The programme was attended by Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Additional Collector Praful Desai, DEO Ch Janardhan Rao, DMHO Dr Sujatha and others. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the deworming tablets would be administered to all the children in the age group of 1 to 19 years. Informing the students about the importance of handwashing and personal hygiene, she alerted the students the worm infestation could cause anaemia, malnourishment and impaired mental and physical development in children.
She said that the students, who were administered with deworming tablet on Thursday, should take the second dose on June 27 compulsorily. She also informed the school teachers to conduct essay writing competitions on deworming day to empower the students on the importance of taking the tablets. Local corporator Ch Butchi Reddy, DIO Sajida Atahari, MEO Madhusudhana Chary, corpoators Bandari Venu, Kuchu Ravi, sectoral officer Ashok Reddy, medical officer Nazia Fatima and others were also present.
