HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 21, 2024: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana conducted raids on clinics operated by quacks and seized illegally stocked drugs intended for sale at Yedira Village, Mahabubnagar Mandal, Mahabubnagar District, Chintal, Quthbullapur Village, Medchal-Malkajgiri District and Mangalapalli Village, Nakrekal Mandal, Nalgonda District.

Similarly, the DCA officials seized Kaltfer Drops [Iron (III) – Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex Drops] in Secunderabad, which were falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’. Stocks worth Rs. 3.2 lakhs were seized during the raid.
In another incident, the officials seized certain medicines due to misleading advertisements such as Isotine Plus Eye Drops, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘various eye problems’, Eyecare Eye Ointment, an Allopathic medicine, claimed for prophylaxis and treatment of infections of the eyes, Uttareni Churnam, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Leukoderma & Pneumonia’, DESTONE Tablet, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Kidney Stones’, Madhuriktha Powder, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Diabetes’ and Stonot Forte, an Ayurvedic medicine, claimed to treat ‘Kidney Stones’.
In an official release here on Saturday, DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that on credible information, the officials from the Drugs Control Administration raided the premises of quacks who were claiming themselves as ‘Rural Medical Practitioners’ and practicing medicine without proper qualifications at their clinics on Friday. The DCA officials seized the stocks, worth a total of Rs. 95,000 during the special raids. Sk. Rabiya, Drugs Inspector, Mahabubnagar, E. Thirupathi, Drugs Inspector, Quthbullapur, G. Surender, Drugs Inspector, Nalgonda carried out the raids.
Seizure of drugs falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’
The Drugs Control Administration officials in Picket, Secunderabad have detected the product Kaltfer Drops [Iron (III) – Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex Drops] circulating in the market. The product was found to be manufactured by Exotic Healthcare, SAS Nagar, Punjab and Marketed by: Curezen Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, Karnataka. The said product was falsely manufactured under a ‘food license (FSSAI license)’ and falsely claimed to be a food product/nutraceutical. According to the label composition of the product, it is classified as a drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
The product must be manufactured only under a ‘drug licence’ issued under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, adhering strictly to the ‘Good Manufacturing Practices’ (GMP) outlined in Schedule-M of the Drugs Rules. Additionally, it must meet the quality standards prescribed in the ‘Indian Pharmacopoeia’ (IP) as mandated. Stocks worth Rs. 3.2 lakhs were seized during the raid. D. Seizure of drugs for misleading advertisements:
The DCA officials detected certain medicines circulating in the market with misleading claims on their labels, stating that they treat Ophthalmic diseases/disorders, Leukoderma, Pneumonia, Diabetes, Kidney Stones. Such claims are in contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. N. Ravikiran Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Sangareddy, A. Saritha, Drugs Inspector, Jeedimetla, M. Chandrasekhar, Drugs Inspector, Patancheru, M. Shyam Sundar, Drugs Inspector, Nirmal, G. Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Jinnaram and I. Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Gajularamaram are among the officers who carried out the raids.
