Contract employees GGH Karimnagar calls off indefinite strike following assurance to fulfill their legitimate demands

KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 03, 2024: Employees associated with the Telangana Government Hospital Workers and Employees Union, Karimnagar chapter, have called off their indefinite strike following the release of their two-month salaries and other assurances by the government general hospital superintendent Dr Veera Reddy on Saturday evening.

About 250 contract employees including sanitation workers, patient care, security guards and others have launched an indefinite strike from Friday onwards paralyzing the works at the hospital and causing umpteen woes to the patients.

Government hospital workers and employees union Karimnagar district honourary president Bandari Shekhar said the hospital superintendent had released the two months’ salaries and took assurances for the release of another month’s salary within one week. The hospital authorities had also assured to provide EPF and ESI facilities and ID cards to all the contract employees.

About the alleged harassment by the hospital supervisors, the hospital superintendent had assured to resolve the issue by holding parleys. On this occasion, the Union leaders handed over a petition to RM Dr Naveena about the withdrawal of indefinite strike and resuming their duties and threatened to intensify the agitation if the hospital fails to fulfil the promises to the contract employees
