KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 16, 2024: Congress party Karimnagar Parliament incharge Velichala Rajender Rao has strongly condemned the statements made by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not reacting to the attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh under the instructions of China.
In a statement here on Friday, Mr Rajender Rao suggested that the Union Minister should stop making cheap politics to garner political mileage. He asked whether the Union Minister knew about China and the country’s foreign policy. He demanded that Mr Bandi Sanjay Kumar tender unconditional apologies for making false and baseless allegations against Rahul Gandhi over the Bangladesh issue.
He asked whether Bandi Sanjay knew anything about Gandhi’s family. He ridiculed the allegations stating that Rahul Gandhi was not reacting to the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh following the pressures from China. He reminded that the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had given a fitting reply to the China during 1962 war.
He said that Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was killed at the hands of bodyguards and her son Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by LTTE terrorists and added that the Gandhi family sacrificed their lives for the country unlike any of the BJP leaders and its frontal organisations. They only claim that they alone were protectors of the country and misleading the people with false propaganda, he charged.
Stating that Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of China occupying parts of the Ladakh region in the parliament, he charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi escaped from discussing the issue. On the other hand, the Prime Minister stated that China had not occupied a single inch of land in the Ladakh region and cheated the people of the country, he stated.
He reminded that then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was instrumental in ensuring freedom to Bangladesh country. In the year 1971, then Jan Sangh leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee had praised Indira Gandhi as Goddess Durga for helping Bangladesh country’s freedom, he stated and flayed Bandi Sanjay for not knowing the facts of the history.
He also stated that Rahul Gandhi had participated in the all-party meeting on the Bangladesh crisis and informed the government that they would support whatever decision is taken by the Union. Reminding that Congress party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also spoke on the Bangladesh crisis, Mr Rajender Rao informed Bandi Sanjay to mend his ways and demanded apologies for making baseless allegations.
Reiterating that the Congress party would extend all support for national security, the Congress leader demanded that the Union Minister withdraw his statements against Rahul Gandhi. He said that Rahul Gandhi’s fore-grandfather Motilal Nehru had donated his entire property to the poor people. His grandfather Pandi Jawaharlal Nehru went to jail as part of the freedom struggle.
