Sanctions student payable amount of Rs 1.51 lakhs
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, JULY 24, 2024: The Telangana State Tribal Welfare department has sanctioned post-matric scholarship and immediate assistance of Rs 1.51 lakhs to tribal girl Badavath Madhulatha to pursue B Tech (Engineering and Physics) in IIT, Patna, Bihar state.
Responding to the news item published in this website titled “Tribal student, who secured admission in IIT Patna, forced to graze goats as she is unable to pay fee and pursue education” on July 23, 2024, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed the Tribal welfare department to sanction post-matric scholarship for the continuation of education of Madhulatha. The Tribal welfare department sent the amount to Rajanna-Sircilla district to hand over the same to the student. A total of 2.51 lakhs was sanctioned which includes student payable amount Rs 1.51 lakhs as the tuition fee is waiver for the ST student.
Madhulatha is the daughter of tribal couple Badavath Ramulu and Saroja and lives in Gone Nayak Thanda in Veernapalli mandal. She was forced to graze goats as the family was not a position to pay the fees for her B Tech education in IIT, Patna. Her two other sisters after completing degree were helping the family by working in the fields.
Madhulatha and her parents thanked the Chief Minister for his instant response and sanction of scholarship to pursue higher education.
