
CS instructs Collectors to conduct grama sabhas and urban wards on June 4, 6, 8 and 10th
HYDERABAD, JUNE 02, 2026: Chief Secretary K.Ramakrishna Rao conducted a video conference with District Collectors and reviewed arrangements for the conduct of 99 days Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika, along with environment awareness initiatives as part of the Environment Week on Tuesday.
Addressing the Collectors, the Chief Secretary informed that, as per the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas should be organized on the 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th of this month in all villages and urban wards. He emphasized that these public meetings should be utilized as an effective platform to create awareness among citizens on several important issues concerning governance, development and public participation.
The Chief Secretary stated that special focus should be given to creating awareness on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being undertaken as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India. He directed the district administration to ensure that citizens are adequately informed about the voter list revision process and the importance of participation in electoral roll updating activities.
K.Ramakrishna Rao further instructed the Collectors to use the Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas to educate people about crop diversification, enabling farmers to adopt sustainable and remunerative agricultural practices. Awareness should also be generated on monsoon preparedness measures, including precautions to be taken before and during the rainy season.
Highlighting the importance of sanitation and environmental protection, the Chief Secretary directed officials to focus on prevention of water stagnation. He also stressed the need for promoting plantation activities and creating awareness about Solid Waste Management Rules, encouraging communities to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
The Chief Secretary clarified that the activities proposed to be taken up through the Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas are in addition to the thematic week programmes already being implemented under the 99-Day Praja Palana Pragati Pranalika initiative. He instructed officials to ensure convergence of all departmental efforts for effective outreach and maximum public participation.
Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, Sri Ramakrishna Rao directed the Collectors to actively involve public representatives, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, community leaders and other stakeholders in the conduct of the Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas so that government programmes and awareness campaigns reach every household.
Director General of Police C.V. Anand, who also participated in the video conference, stressed the need for close coordination between the Police Department and other government departments at the district level. He stated that effective inter-departmental coordination would be crucial for the successful implementation of government programmes and for ensuring smooth conduct of public outreach activities.
Special Chief Secretary Energy Navin Mittal, Forest Principal Secretary Ahmad Nadeem, Planning Secretary Gaurav Uppal, Agriculture Secretary Surendra Mohan, Irrigation Secretary E. Sridhar, Panchayat Raj Commissioner Divya, LET&F Secretary Hari Chandana, Agriculture Director Gopi, Senior officials from various departments and District Collectors participated in the video conference.
