Bhagavathi High School remembers Dasarathi, the revolutionary poet

KARIMNAGAR, JULY 22, 2024: Bhagavathi High School in Bhagathnagar, Karimnagar remembered revolutionary poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharyulu, who inspired the first and second phase of separate Telangana state movement on the occasion of birth centenary celebrations on Monday.

“Naa Telangana Koti Ratanaala Veena’ (My Telangana is like the Veena decked with one crore diamonds) is a stanza from a poem written by revolutionary poet was the motivational till the formation of separate Telangana state. Dasarathi was born on July 22, 1925 in Chinna Gudur village in the present-day Maripeda mandal of Mahabubabad district.

He began writing poems at a very young age while as a student. The poems were revolutionary in their spirit. The plight of the downtrodden, poor, exploited workers formed his subject matter. Dasarathi strongly believed that the capitalist, feudalist and autocratic society under Nizam’s rule would give way to democracy and equality. Dasarathi had penned 2000 songs for Telugu movies and was honoured with Kala Prapurna title by Andhra University. He passed on November 5, 1987

Remembering the crusade launched by Dasarathi through his writings, School chairman B Ramana Rao, Correspondent B Vijalakshmi, vice principal Monika Roy and students paid floral and candle light tributes to his portrait. Teachers Padma and Kalyani rendered his popular Telugu film songs. He called upon the students get inspiration of Dasarathi.
