KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 29, 2024: Bhagavathi High School, Bhagathnagar and Arvintree High School, Vasudeva colony, Karimnagar, celebrated the National Sports Day and Telugu Language Day separately to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey legend Mayor Dhyan Chand and Gidigu Venkata Ramamurthy, who popularized the Telugu idiom and promoted colloquial language, respectively on Thursday.
School Chairman B Ramana Rao and Director B Vijaya Lakshmi launched the celebrations by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Dhyan Chand and Gidigu Venkata Ramamurthy. They acquainted the students with the theme of the National Sports Day and also told them about the importance of sports in their lives to keep themselves fit, physically as well as mentally.
They also mentioned about the importance of promotion of Telugu, and appreciated its sweetness and greatness. They said that the day recognises the significance of the Telugu language, one of India’s oldest and most vibrant languages. The origins of Telugu language trace back to ancient inscriptions and texts, with its classical roots well-documented in literature and linguistic studies. The language evolved through various stages, influenced by political, social and cultural changes over the centuries, they stated.
On this occasion, the students participated in various sports and games. They also formed into pyramids to display their skills. The students also presented cultural programmes on the importance of Telugu language.
