Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Directs Singareni Officials to Explore Collaboration
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 28, 2026: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance and Energy, Sri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, has directed officials to explore the possibility of setting up a joint venture between Singareni and Hutti Gold Mines, a Karnataka government undertaking with extensive experience in gold mining.
He said that combining the technical capabilities and expertise of the two public sector undertakings could help achieve better results in increasing domestic gold production.
As part of his second-day visit to the gold mining areas of Karnataka on Friday, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Hutti and UT gold mines in Raichur district. He thoroughly inspected the processes involved, from the extraction of gold ore to the production of refined gold.
Leveraging the Expertise of Hutti and Singareni
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Hutti Gold Mines has vast experience in gold exploration, mining, processing and refining. He suggested combining Hutti’s expertise with Singareni’s technical capabilities in the exploration and mining of coal and other minerals.
He directed Singareni officials to prepare an action plan for joint collaboration between the two organisations in areas such as gold exploration, mining, extraction, processing and refining, adoption of modern technologies, deployment of technical experts and human-resource training.
Gold Is Crucial to Economic Security
Bhatti Vikramarka stated that gold plays a crucial role in the country’s economic security. He said that public sector organisations such as Singareni should take the lead in scientifically exploring and extracting the country’s available gold mineral resources.
He emphasised the need to reduce dependence on gold imports and increase domestic production. He said that a Hutti–Singareni partnership could contribute to increasing gold production, adopting advanced technologies, creating local employment opportunities and strengthening the country’s economic development.
Inspection from Mining to Refining
The Deputy Chief Minister inspected the production unit, ore processing plant and electrowinning facility at Hutti Gold Mines. Officials explained to him the various stages through which the ore extracted from the mine is processed and converted into refined gold.
Officials informed him that the Hutti project produces an average of 2 to 4 kilograms of gold per day.
At the UT Open Cast Gold Mine viewpoint, the Deputy Chief Minister personally observed the process of extracting gold-bearing ore and the areas from which the ore was being extracted. He enquired with officials about the depth from which the raw material required for gold production was being extracted from the open-cast mine.
He subsequently examined detailed maps related to the gold mine and sought information from officials about the technologies being used for gold exploration.
Officials also facilitated the Deputy Chief Minister in planting a sapling at the site.
Later, he inspected gold ore mining operations at the UT underground mine. He enquired about various aspects of underground mining, including ore extraction and transportation, use of machinery and worker safety.
During the visit, Singareni CMD Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti, Director (Planning & Projects) Venkateshwarlu, General Manager Pankaj Kuleshrestha, Raichur Zilla Parishad members Amjad, and senior Hutti Gold Mines officials Arunava Ghosh, Safiyulla Khan, Vidhatri Upund and Yemnoorappa Gowda, along with Retired Colonel Dastagir Saheb Dafedar, participated.
