KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026: Banking services, particularly in public sector banks, could be affected for four days in several parts of the country from September 11, 2026, following the nationwide strike call given by the Bank Unions demanding a five-day banking week.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) will hold a nationwide strike on September 11, 2026, over the delay in implementing a five-day banking week, differences over performance-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, and several other pending demands, including pension-related issues.
As the strike call is given on September 11, which falls on a Friday, followed by bank holidays on Second Saturday (September 12) and Sunday (September 13). September 14 is also a holiday in some States on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
SBI and PNB have advised their customers to complete important transactions in advance and use digital banking channels, ATMs and other available services during the proposed strike.

On the other hand, the nationalised banks and RRBs and DCCBs in Karimnagar town have decided to take out a massive rally pressing for their demand for a five-day banking week on Friday. The rallies would begin from the respective bank branches and reach Indira Chowk and later converge at the UBI RTC bus station complex branch, where a meeting would be conducted.
