Army Soldier wins ‘National Indian Icon-2024’ award for his literary works

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 11, 2024:  Peruka Raju, a native of Narsingapur village of Chandurthi mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district, has bagged the coveted award “National Indian Icon -2024” for his non-stop fiction  work and recognition of recently released book ‘Avva’ an anthology of short stories.

Peruka Raju, who is presently working in 28 Madras Regiment as a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army, has to his credit writing several books and short poems and translation works. At a programme conducted at Devulapalli Ramanujarao Kalamandiram in Hyderabad, several eminent personalities from various walks of life presented the award on Saturday night.

Madhusudan, Supreme Court Judge, Daivagna Sharma, Dr Choudhary, Film Prooducer, Ranjith Samskrutika Kala Samstha President, Rajashekar, Kalaposhakulu, Miss Telangana Jyothi, choreographer and film-maker Raghava, and others were also present.

He is running an NGO called “My Gift” and helping the rural people for education and other requirements. He dedicated the award to the soldiers of Indian Army and he attributed the award to his senior officers and commanding officer for their encouragement and motivation.
