Potti Sriramulu Telugu University will be named after Suvaram Prathap Reddy
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 02, 2024: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced construction of another International Cricket stadium on the outskirts of Hyderabad city at Bagari Kanche.
The preliminary talks with BCCI for the construction of an international cricket stadium at Bagari Kanche have already been completed. The BCCI responded positively and the government will allot land for stadium at the earliest, he told in the Assembly on Friday.
Stating that the government allocated Rs.321 crores in the budget to promote sports, he said that they were also providing job opportunities to the sportspersons excelling in different sports and reminded that they had offered Group-I posts to world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen and International cricketer Mohammad Siraj.
Apart from allocation of funds, a special action plan will be prepared to promote sports in the state. Government is inviting suggestions to develop sports policy, the CM said and added that the government will bring new Sports policy soon. The sports policies of other states will be studied and adopt the best one.
Reminding that the Haryana Government has been encouraging sportsmen, he said the Sports policy will be introduced in the next assembly session. Government is ready to build stadiums in the Mandal Head quarters depending on the availability of land, he maintained.
The Stadiums which were built earlier in Hyderabad were being used for political events and private functions. The stadiums should be upgraded and encourage students to pursue sports as a career, he informed.
The CM said that the government is ready to take the responsibility of promoting sports and appealed to all sections to extend support. Government has no objection to name Potti Sriramulu Telugu University after Suravaram Prathap Reddy if all political parties agree, he stated.
