PEDDAPALLI, FEBRUARY 17, 2024: Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) five-day training programme on the role of NCC in disaster management from February 12 to 16 successfully concluded at National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh state.
The concept of training was focused on ‘Child-centric Disaster Risk Reduction for the South Region’ at NIDM South Campus on February 15 in collaboration with Bal Raksha Bharat.
Mr Rajendra Ratnoom, Executive Director, NIDM, Mr Raju Narayana Swamy, Principal Secretary, Kerala, Mr Santosh Kumar (Sr Advisor, NIDM), Col. PS Reddy (JD, NIDM SC), Santanu Chakraborti (Director, BRB) and Dr Antanyami Dash (Dy. Director, BRB), Dr Kumar Raka, Senior Programme Officer, CCDRR-NIDM and Mr Mintu Debnath (BRB) for their instrumental roles. Other speakers included senior representatives from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; Bal Raksha Bharat, and CCDRR-NIDM.
The participants said that they had explored innovative strategies and shared experiences for building child-centric resilience to disasters. The discussions were rich, the insights were profound, and the passion for creating a safer society for children was evident, they added. Later, the organisers distributed certificates to all participants. From Karimnagar district 9 Telangana NCC battalion, First Officer P Deva Jyothsna, Lt Maruthi Srihari Rao, Second officer O Saritha participated in the workshop.
