Students of BSc (Design and Technology) conduct a ramp walk under the caption of ‘Drape and Pride’ to promote handloom sarees
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, AUGUST 07, 2024: Students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for women, Agraharam, on the outskirts of Sircilla textile town, have showcased their draping skills using traditional handloom sarees on the occasion of National Handlooms day celebrations on Wednesday.
Students of Department of BSc (Design and Technology), under the banner of ‘Drape and Pride”, conducted a handloom saree ramp walk and captivated with their creativity in different types of drapes. Nari in a Sari is honouring these everyday divas, who embrace tradition and elegance, through a fashion show exclusively for and by the women.
It’s not just another fashion show. The budding fashion designers of the college have showcased their draping skills, using traditional handlooms sarees and its numerous weaves on the ramp. The students have simply promoted and celebrated the beautiful drape in the saree which brings with it a lot of grace, elegance and ease.
Principal P. Ramalingeshwara Sharma, vice principal K Lavanya, Fouzia Bhanu, Department of Fashion & Technology and other faculty members participated in the event and encouraged the students.
The budding fashion designers said that the celebration was aimed to encourage the country’s rich textile heritage and significance of handloom fabrics which encouraging innovation and creativity in fashion design. The students tried a new drape and how gorgeous a woman looks in a saree. Besides, they also promoted the importance of handlooms and encouraging local weavers.
