KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11, 2026: Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of the Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Karimnagar, distributed clay Ganesha idols to the public, with the objective of promoting environmental protection and eco-friendly celebrations on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof. D. Varalakshmi emphasised the importance of celebrating festivals in an environmentally responsible manner. She stated that using clay Ganesha idols helps reduce water pollution and contributes to the protection of the environment.
WEC Coordinator B. Rajani Devi said that people should follow traditions while giving equal importance to environmental conservation. She encouraged the public to use natural clay idols instead of Plaster of Paris idols and chemical-based colours, which can cause environmental pollution.
WEC members Vidya, Nazia Rahman, Sudhama and Anoosha actively participated in the programme and distributed clay Ganesha idols to the public.
Faculty members, non-teaching staff, students and members of the public participated in the programme. The organisers appealed to everyone to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly manner and contribute to environmental protection.
