Vontimitta, (AP), april 14, 2024: The grand gala of celestial marriage festivities of Sri Sita Rama in Vontimitta commenced with the traditional “Haridhra Ghatanam”.
Women devotees pounced about three kilos of turmeric roots on the occasion chanting Jai Sri Ram. Earlier the turmeric roots and the rolling stone and pouncing stone were rendered special Pujas inside Garbhalayam.
Archaka Shravana Swamy informed the significance of the event to devotees stating that the Haridhra Ghatanam marks the beginning of the celestial marriage festivities. “The turmeric will be utilised for Snapanam and preparation of Talambralu.
Pradhana Archaka Raghavacharyulu, Vontimitta Special Officer Prasanthi, Superintendent Hanumantu, temple inspector Naveen, large number of women devotees, archakas Manoj, Pavan were also present.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the ensuing annual Sri Rama Navami Brahmotsavams in Vontimitta and the state festival of Sri Sitarama Kalyanam will be held on April 22 between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm said, TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy.
Speaking to the media, he said in view of the annual event, the traditional temple cleansing fete, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam was observed. The annual Brahmotsavam will commence on April 16 with Ankurarpanam followed by Dhwajarohanam on April 17 on the day of the Srirama Navami festival and concludes on April 25, he added.
He said TTD along with the local district administration made arrangements keeping in view the heavy turnout of pilgrims and scorching temperatures.
The EO said, permanent structures have been built at Kalyana Vedika and arrangements for drinking water, Annaprasadam have been made at galleries and entry points. Both the police and TTD security will ensure safety measures towards incident free event.
District Collector Vijayaramaraju instructed the officials concerned to complete the pending works including barricading, erection of CC cameras, Public Address System before April 15.
Later the EO along with the district and TTD officials inspected the ongoing arrangements at Kalyana Vedika.
On behalf of district administration, Joint Collector Ganesh Kumar, SP Siddharth Koushal, Municipal Commissioner Suryasai Praveen Chand and other officials were also present. While from TTD, JEO Veerabrahmam, CEO SVBC Shanmukh Kumar, CE Nageswara Rao, and others were also present.
