

GODAVARIKHANI, MARCH 29, 2025: Ugadi, the Telugu New Year festival, and Ramzan were celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness on the premises of Sacred Heart High School in Godavarikhani coal belt of Peddapalli district on Saturday

The teachers and staff came together to welcome the Telugu New Year, Sri Viswaavasu Nama Samvatsaram, with traditional rituals, cultural performances, and festive activities. They had welcomed the Correspondent Sister maria Goreti, Principal Sister Arogya Mari, Sister Teckla, Sister Mari, Saleena, Father Rayapu Reddy with ‘purnakumbam’ swagatham.
The chief guests conveyed their wishes on the joyous occasion and praised the teachers for conducting Ugadi celebrations on the school premises and explaining its importance. The teachers educated the medicinal values in the Ugadi pachadi with raw mango, tamarind, jaggery, new flowers, coconut, salt, chilli and other ingredients.
The rich cultural heritage of Telugu traditions was depicted simply and engagingly. Children were excited to showcase their talents and sang melodious songs of the Ugadi festival and danced to the tunes of traditional songs. Overall, the programme was a success, instilling the values, traditions, culture and unity in the young minds. The Ugadi celebrations at Sacred Heart School brought joy and cultural awareness to students, making it a memorable start to the New Year.
Similarly, the teachers have explained the importance of the Ramzan festival. They explained that Ramzan is the month for giving zakat (charity) and helping those who are needy. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
