TIRUMALA, OCTOBER 16, 2026: On the bright, sunny day on Friday, Sri Malayappa was seen donning Mohini… The Universal celestial beauty, Alankara, as part of the ongoing Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala on the fifth day.
The deity is specially adorned as Mohini—the enchanting beauty- and was taken in a grand procession on an ivory palanquin, accompanied by Sri Krishna Swamy on another palanquin.
The observance recalls the episode after the churning of the cosmic ocean, when the Devas and Asuras competed for amritam (nectar of immortality), Sri Maha Vishnu assumed the captivating Mohini form, diverted the Asuras, and ensured that the nectar was distributed to the Devas—thereby protecting dharma.

In Tirumala’s tradition, the Mohini Avataram symbolises that the Asuras’ arrogance and desire were defeated, while the Devas, who sought refuge in the almighty, received divine grace.
The Mohini Avataram represents the divine intervention to uphold righteousness and protect the virtuous.
Devotees are reminded that worldly attractions are part of divine Maya, and the carrier teaches them not to be enslaved by desire and to seek liberation through devotion.
Both the Pontiffs, TTD higher officials, board members and a large gathering of devotees were also present.
