TIRUPATI, AUGUST 12, 2026: TTD is making elaborate arrangements for the Varalakshmi Vratam to be held at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Tiruchanoor, on August 21. TTD JEO Dr. A. Sharath directed officials to ensure that devotees receive the best possible facilities and a peaceful spiritual experience.
The JEO reviewed the arrangements with officials along with Chandragiri MLA Sri Pulivarthi Nani at the Asthana Mandapam in Tiruchanoor on Wednesday.
The JEO directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements for darshan, queue lines, drinking water, buttermilk, Annaprasadam, sanitation and security, keeping the expected rush in view. He also instructed officials to review previous arrangements and rectify any shortcomings.
The Varalakshmi Vratam will be performed as per Agama traditions at the Asthana Mandapam from 10 am to 12 noon on August 21 (Friday). At 6 pm, Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru will bless devotees during a procession on the golden chariot along the four Mada streets.
Abhishekam, post-Abhishekam darshan, Lakshmi Puja, Kalyanotsavam, Break Darshan and Unjal Seva will remain cancelled on the day due to the Vratam.
Extensive facilities for devotees
As a large number of women devotees are expected, the JEO directed officials to arrange queue lines, pandals, signboards and LED screens. Adequate drinking water, buttermilk and Annaprasadam should be provided. Kumkum packets, sacred bangles and glass bangles should also be kept ready for distribution.
He directed officials to arrange bhajan groups and decorate the temple and Asthana Mandapam with flowers and illumination. Adequate Srivari Sevaks, sanitation workers and security personnel should be deployed. Coordination with the police and local Panchayat authorities should be ensured to avoid traffic, parking and security issues.
Arrangements should also be made for the live telecast of the Varalakshmi Vratam on SVBC, the JEO said.
No inconvenience to devotees : MLA Pulivarthi Nani
Chandragiri MLA Sri Pulivarthi Nani directed officials to ensure that devotees face no inconvenience during the Varalakshmi Vratam. He stressed the need for adequate drinking water, buttermilk, pandals and parking facilities according to the pilgrim rush.
He also suggested setting up a Help Desk to provide information to devotees.
He prayed for the blessings of Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru for the prosperity, happiness and good health of the people of Chandragiri constituency, the district and the State.
Online tickets on August 13
Online tickets for the Varalakshmi Vratam will be released on August 13 at 10 am. Offline tickets will be issued at the counter in front of the temple one day before the Vratam.
Spiritual significance
According to the Skanda and Bhavishyottara Puranas, Lord Shiva explained the significance and procedure of Varalakshmi Vratam to Goddess Parvati. Tiruchanoor, renowned as the sacred abode where Sri Mahalakshmi manifested, holds special significance for this Vratam.
The Vratam is traditionally observed on the Friday preceding the Shravan Purnima. The scriptures state that women who perform the Vratam with devotion are blessed with good progeny, marital bliss, prosperity, good health and family happiness, the temple priests said.
Temple Deputy EO Sri Harendranath, SE Sri Narasimha Murthy, DE Sri Ravishankar Reddy, Additional Health Officer Dr. Sunil, AEO Sri Devarajulu, AVSO Sri Srihari Rao, Catering Officer Sri Vijayabhaskar, temple priests, police and Panchayat officials and officials from various departments participated in the review meeting.
