Eco-friendly Ganesh idol immersed in makeshift pond at Arvintree School in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16, 2024: Students of Arvintree High School, Vasudeva colony, Karimnagar, who have set an example by worshipping the clay idols made by them during the Ganesh chathurthi celebrations, won accolades for the immersion of the eco-friendly idol in a make-shift pond on the school premises as part of immersion programme on Monday.

Incidentally, this is the only school in the district to take up a novel method of immersion in a makeshift pond to protect the water bodies. The idol after it is dissolved as it has been made with clay would be used as manure for the plants on the school premises.

As part of the immersion, the students were engaged in several religious programmes of conducting special pujas to the idol and also bhajans. Later, the students participated in a procession within the campus to immerse the clay idol in a makeshift pond.

School Chairman B Ramana Rao explained the importance of worshipping clay idols to protect the water bodies from pollution. He said that the idols made of Plaster of Paris were causing several environmental concerns including contamination of water bodies and affecting the ecology. Stating that the students had been making clay idols and worshipping them for over one decade, he said that this way they were educating the younger generation to worship only clay idols and save the environment from pollution. Director B Vijaya Lakshmi, Vice Principal Joycee, coordinators and other teachers were also present.
