KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20, 2026: In a shocking incident, the burglars struck at two ATMs belonging to State Bank of India (SBI) in Thuimmapur and Durshed on the outskirts of Karimnagar town in the wee hours of Sunday and decamped with the booty of Rs 16 lakhs by disabling the CCTV cameras and cutting open the cash chest with a gas cutter.
Police sources said that three unidentified inter-state burglars arrived in a Scorpio vehicle bearing number HM 03 EB 4258, in which one person was wearing a mask and another donned women’s attire. As soon as they entered the ATM centres, they sprayed black colour and broke the machine using a gas cutter.
First, the robbers struck at the Thimmapur ATM centre on the Rajiv Rahadhari between 2.30 am to 3 am and decamped with Rs 7,13,400 cash. Later, the same gang struck at Durshed on the Rajiv Rajadhari at around 3.30 and decamped with Rs 8.55 lakhs cash. The robbers escaped towards Peddapalli after committing the crime.
The police said that the robbers had completed the operation within seven minutes at each ATM centre. It looks like that the robbers had meticulously done the recce before the conduct of the crime.
The ATM burglary at Durshed was alerted by the Delhi central team to the local authorities, who rushed to the spot at around 4 am and alerted the police. However, the Thimmapur ATM incident was reported to the police by the morning walkers. The CLUES teams have been pressed, and evidence has been gathered. CCTV footage recorded on Rajiv Rahadhari and in nearby areas was being scanned to identify the offenders.
