TS Civil Liberties Committee condemns brutal assassination of 29 naxalites in Chatisgarh

KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 23, 2024: Telangana State Civil Liberties Committee State Joint Secretary Madana Kumara Swamy has strongly condemned the brutal assassination of 29 Maoists Naxalites by security forces at Kanker-Naryanpur border of Chatisgarh state on April 16.

Alleging that it was a one-side killing and no loss or even serious injury among the security forces, Mr Kumaraswamy condemned the brutal encounter killing of innocent tribals.

In a statement here on Tuesday, the CLC leader said that the Maoists issue was sociopolitical and needs to be resolved through political dialogue, not through military solutions. The military solution to wipe off Maoists through Operation Greenhunt, Samadhan-Prahar or Kagar may kill some Maoists but will not be able to wipe off the movement. Instead, the government should resolve the lopsided development model, which further impoverishes the poorest sections of society, if they are sincere in improving the lives of the Adivasis.

Condemning the use of armed forces to tackle socio-economic issues, he demanded an immediate withdrawal of armed forces to its barracks. He also urged the government to stop the encounter killings of the tribals and the violation of the tribal women in the name of controlling the Maoists. Demanding the constitution of time-bound high-power judicial commission to go into the modus operandi of the forces, he said the government should initiate unconditional dialogue for a political solution to the Maoist issue and start genuine implementation of PESA and FRA and stop the acquisition of forest and tribal lands for corporate plunder in the name of development.
