Overloading of autos is rampant in autoes, but no one cares
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 08, 2026: Three police personnel were spotted riding on a single motorcycle in Karimnagar, a clear violation of traffic rules that prohibit triple riding.
The Traffic police often conduct special drives to curb traffic violations such as no-helmet riding, triple riding, and wrong-side driving. However, reports also indicate instances where police personnel themselves have been spotted violating traffic rules.
Reports in early 2026 noted that police personnel were seen riding triple on a motorcycle in Karimnagar. This, along with other traffic violations, has triggered questions on social media about whether the law is applied equally and if a challan will be issued in such cases.
Despite repeated pleas of auto-rickshaws, which is a traffic menace, they are made to go scot-free. The autos erect ‘auto stand sign boards’ at their whims and fancies from the police, MCK or R&B. As per norms, the autos do not carry more than three commuters. But every auto has additional to the drivers; besides, he also fit additional seats for the commuters to overload the vehicle. Along with overloaded autos, they fix blaring music systems causing nuisance to commuters and other road users.
The Traffic police, along with other officials should launch a drive on illegal encroachment of footpaths and parking by removing makeshift eateries on the roads, which are causing traffic congestion.
