‘Operation Garuda’, the Peddapalli police launch drone patrolling

PEDDAPALLI, APRIL 03, 2024: In order to ensure law and order and check crime, the Peddapalli police have launched the ‘Operation Garuda’ patrolling by using drones in Peddapalli town on Wednesday.

Ramagundam Commissioner of Police M Srinivas had formally launched the drone patrolling on Wednesday evening by operating the drones for aerial survey in the busy Peddapalli town. Speaking on the occasion, the CP said that the drones have thermal object imaging facility and will detect if any suspect has a knife or some other objects on his body.

He said that the night patrolling will become much easier and based on information provided by drones, the suspects could be caught easily. He also said that the drones will be used to monitor movements at isolated places as well as uniting of anti-social elements.

The CP congratulated Lead District Bank manager Chegonda Venkatesh for coming forward and providing financial assistance for launching ‘operation Garuda’ by using the drone cameras surveillance in the Peddapalli town. Additional DCP (admn) C Raju, Special Branch ACP Raghavendra Rao, Peddapalli ACP G Krishna, CI Krishna, Traffic inspector Satyanarayana, SIs Laxman Rao, Mallesh and others were also present.

It may be recalled that the Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police had first used the drones for checking open consumption of liquor in Karimnagar town under the leadership of then CP VB Kamalasan Reddy. It yielded good results with the complete eradication of open consumption on the outskirts of various parts of Karimnagar town including shores of LMD reservoir etc.
