Major fire mishap in Karimnagar town, no casualties reported

Renee hospital staff swing into action to put off fire

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 20, 2024: In a bizarre incident, a major fire broke out at Adarshanagar in Karimnagar town on Tuesday engulfing makeshift huts ad tents by the labour force. No casualties were reported so far.

Sources said that the migrant labourers residing in the tents and some of them being rag-pickers had went to Medaram Samakka-Sarakka jatara on Tuesday morning after offering prayers in the house and lighting the lamps. It is believed that the lamp fire might have caught fire with some paper-like substance and spread the fire into other waste material dumped in the houses. Around 14 huts were engulfed in the fire.

The fire spread rapidly following the explosion of LPG cylinders. It is stated that about five cylinders had exploded in the fire mishap. The medical staff of the adjoining Renee hospital including its chairman Dr Bangari Swamy also swung into action and bought their hospital fire fighting extinguishers to put off the fire. The hospital staff also tried to put off the fire. Later, the fire tenders rushed to the spot and struggle hard to put off the fire.
