Karimnagar ACB court sentences Inspector to undergo five years rigorous imprisonment

KARIMNAGAR, JULY 31, 2024: Karimnagar SPE and ACB cases court special judge Kumar Vivek on Wednesday sentenced Inspector of Police Chintapatla Latchanna to undergo five years of rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 20,000 on the charges of taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant about 11 years ago.

According to ACB sources, Wankidi police station Inspector Chintapatla Latchanna of Adilabad district demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant Uppula Shashikala to produce her son Uppula Krishna before the court, who was involved in a criminal case and detained illegally by the accused officer in the police station since February 6, 2013. He was trapped by the ACB officials on February 11, 2013.

The then Inspector Lachanna demanded Rs 10,000 to send Krishna for judicial remand. The accused’s mother Shashikala approached ACB, who led by the then DSP T Sudarshan Goud trapped the Inspector while accepting the bribe. Inspector Ramana Murthy had submitted a charge sheet in the court. After going through the evidence, the ACB court pronounced the judgement.
